Controlling Fear Instinct: the key to courage in scary world

Controlling Fear Instinct: The Key to Courage in a Scary World.

Have you ever felt your fear instincts taking over, leaving you frozen or overwhelmed? You're not alone. Fear often feels bigger than it actually is because our brains are wired to overestimate danger. But here’s the truth:

Risk = Danger × Exposure
The actual risk something poses depends not on how scared it makes us feel but on the combination of danger and exposure Let me explain:
- Danger is the inherent threat in a situation.
-Exposure is how much you are actually affected by that threat.

Most of the time, our fear exaggerates one or both of these factors. So, how do we take control?

Get Calm Before You Carry On**
Fear clouds judgment, making problems seem worse than they are. Before reacting, try this:
1.Pause and Breathe:Take a moment to calm your nervous system.
2. Assess the Risk:Separate facts from feelings. Is the danger as big as it seems? How much does it really impact you?
3. Take Action: Address what’s in your control and let go of what isn’t.

Here’s a personal example:
When I first thought about sharing my professional journey online, I hesitated. What if people judged me? What if my ideas weren’t good enough? But then I applied this approach:
- I assessed the real risk (minimal danger, limited exposure).
- I calmed my fear with facts.
- And here I am, connecting with you!
